Yamaha Drums has introduced the Roy Haynes Centennial Signature Snare Drum YCS1455RH, a limited commemorative model created to mark what would have been the jazz drummer's 100th birthday. Haynes' playing shaped modern jazz drumming across decades, and Yamaha frames this drum as a tribute to that rhythmic voice.
The instrument centers on a 14 inch x 5.5 inch hand-hammered copper shell assembled in Japan. Yamaha pairs the shell with 45 degree / R2.4 bearing edges, Dyna Hoops, and an inner mute, aiming for a warm, dynamic snare sound that can be tightened or controlled at the drum itself.
The run is capped at 100 pieces worldwide. Each snare includes a special brochure with a message and signature from Roy Haynes, positioning the YCS1455RH as both a playable copper snare and a collector-focused centennial release.

Why it matters
Copper snares often sit between crisp articulation and darker body, which makes the material a strong match for a tribute to a drummer known for touch, snap, and conversational jazz phrasing. The small production run also makes this one less of a standard catalog snare and more of a focused collector release for Yamaha and Roy Haynes fans.
