TAMA has introduced the Kaz Rodriguez Limited Edition Signature Snare Drum (KR1465) — a model developed over two years to capture Kaz’s goal of high sensitivity with a deep, resonant shell tone. The headline is a 10mm hybrid shell built from 6-ply maple + 6-ply bubinga, aiming to blend maple’s bright definition with bubinga’s dense low-end weight.
The drum is sized at 14"x6.5". TAMA notes that, despite the deeper shell, it’s tuned for an exceptionally quick, sensitive response — the “fast feel” you want for ghost notes, articulation, and dynamic phrasing.
Visually, it’s finished in Matte Metallic Gold (a brass-like look) with chrome hardware — designed to sit with almost any kit while still popping under stage lights.

Why it matters
If you’re chasing a wide dynamic range (soft articulation that still speaks, plus a bigger “core” tone when you lay in), this shell/hoop/wire combo is built for exactly that kind of expressive playing.
