Overview

Pearl has added a limited cosmetic update to the Decade Maple Artisan line, introducing two finishes built around a carefully selected pine wood outer ply. The idea is not just new colorways, but a more organic visual identity where the grain of the wood stays visible under translucent shading.
According to Pearl, the pine outer ply is meant to lift both the visual character and the overall shell personality. The release revolves around two distinct stage looks: a warm, sunset-style burst and a cooler shoreline-inspired fade.
The two limited finishes
- #870 Sunset Pine Burst: amber-to-crimson gradient over natural pine grain
- #872 White Beach Pine Fade: natural pine transitioning into a calm aqua fade
Why it stands out
This is an aesthetics-first release, but not in a superficial way. Pearl is leaning into the fact that many drummers want a kit that reads as crafted wood rather than just wrapped color. The visible pine grain and translucent fades give these finishes a more boutique look than a standard solid finish.
Practical takeaway
If you already like the Decade Maple Artisan platform and care about how the kit presents on stage or in photos, these two versions are the key story. Pick Sunset Pine Burst for a warmer, more dramatic look, or White Beach Pine Fade if you want something lighter and cleaner without losing the exposed wood feel.
